View of the west side of the harbour. Small Gulls and Turnstones regularly roost in the vicinity of the lifeboat moorings , and frequent the rocks in front of the lifeboat house. |

The fish market roof is a good spot for Gulls - Glaucous Gulls are rare but regular winter visitors. | |
The eastern part of the harbour ; with mud flats in places at low
water. Great Northern Divers are regular in the harbour during winter - with the occasional Grey Phalarope during particularly stormy weather. |

Newlyn Harbour is very busy fishing
port. There are no particular restrictions to public access , with both quays being open and accessible. Visitors should bear in mind the various activites and dangers present in such a port. April 2001 : Please note that the South Pier has recently been closed to the public due to repeated vandalism ; and health and safety issues. |
Newlyn is easily reached from
Penzance . There is a regular bus service . By car , take the main A30 bypass round Penzance and turn left for Newlyn at `Four Lanes End` crossroads ( sw 453 : 294). Newlyn is always busy and parking difficult. There is a car park opposite the Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen as you enter Newlyn. Tolcarne Beach , to the east of Newlyn, is worth checking for Gulls , and divers and duck offshore. |
