Triangle Plume. Peach Blossom & White Ermine.
25th June A couple more moth photos for you attached. A Triangle Plume, a bit odd looking for a moth and not seen all that often, and a Peach Blossom with a White Ermine. White Ermines are very plentiful at the moment but its the first Peach Blossom I've seen.

The next few weeks is the peak time for dragonflies,The male Golden ringed dragonfly lives in fast flowing streams; Male Emperor dragonfly lives in large ponds ; Male Black-tailed skimmer and female Black-tailed skimmer nothing like the male,also likes large ponds and are less common than the previous ones, all seen this week at Rospannel
Both of these photos are of hoverflies that are on the wing at the moment, they imitate bumblebees for looks but fly much faster and are not so plentiful. Makes a change from moths!!

14th June. Three of the moths this week are the very common day flying Cinnabar , the catterpillars feed on Ragwort. . The Pebble Prominent , Pale Tussock , not all that common.

3rd June White Ermine, Buff Ermine and Angle Shades all this week at Rospannel, all very common, also Blackcap with beak full of catterpillars so must be breeding nearby. Emperor and Goldenringed dragonflies also on the wing.

19th May Have had fifteen species of moth this week. Shown the Poplar Hawk Moth with small carpet moth sneaking into view, Peppered Moth which is another large moth, and a V Moth which is a migrant

12th May Lots of Peacock and Orange tip butterflies about. Azure damselflies and Broad-bodied chasers have joined the Large red damsels, as far as dragonflies are concerned.

6th May . A couple of relative rarities this week, photo of completely black bumblebee, taken at Lamorna and Cepero's Ground-hopper at Rospannel, a rare South coast species

Sunday 22nd April Noonflies can be seen now sitting in the sun at noon on suitable sunny tree trunk or branch. With orange wings, one of our smartest flies, saw first one today, also first Damselfly of the year on our pool, The Large Red Damselfly, two days earlier than last year.

Week Ending 15th April The week got off to a good start with the first Painted Lady Butterfly of the year at Rospannel on the 9th.April and again on the 10th. First Red Admiral appeared on the 12th. Despite cold N.W.winds. Today 15th. took the above image of Brimstone moth.
