Marazion Marsh R.S.P.B. Reserve , with its extensive reedbeds
and other unique habitat, is a very well-known and popular birdwatching
location.
The reserve is located some two miles east of Penzance , and
is easily reached by road or public transport. |

|
The reserve is well maintained by RSPB staff and volunteers
. The entrance to the reserve (above left) is opposite an ideally
situated small car park ( at sw 513 : 311) ; made up
paths lead round the areas open to the public.
Good views can also be had from the adjacent road, with plenty
of parking room normally available on the south side of the
road.
The Marazion reserve is probably best known for the annual influx
of small numbers of Aquatic Warblers and Spotted Crake. |

Marazion Beach runs to the south of the road bordering the
reserve ; adjoining Long Rock and Eastern Green Beach to the
west ; and curving round to Marazion town and St.Michael`s
Mount to the east.
Mediterranean Gulls are regular in small numbers here , with
Divers, Grebes, Seaduck and Terns present in season. |

Long Rock Pool is also part of the RSPB reserve , sitting
just to the west of the main area.
Bittern, Smew and American Wigeon are just a taster of recent
species seen here.
Long Rock Pool is easily viewed either from the Long Rock
to Marazion road, or from the slip road joining the A30/A394
roundabout at Newtown to the Marazion road. |
